This is the first records column to cover all of Alabama and Northwest Florida in many years. I hope to publish “Sightings” twice each year in this journal, with the next report for the period August 1988 to February 1989. This column will only be possible if I can obtain records from the various people in our area who receive them from the membership. I hope to include as many interesting observations as are available to me. I would like to emphasize that while some screening of records will occur, publication in this column should in no way be considered verification or substantiation of a report. All extreme rarities will still have to be officially considered by the appropriate records committees.
