Seven Christmas counts were again conducted in Alabama in 1969 and, although there were two changes from 1968, there again was at least one from each major ecological region in the state–Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge (WWR) in the Tennessee Valley, Birmingham (Bhm) and Jacksonville Qvl) in the Mountain Region, Auburn (Aub) in the Piedmont, Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge (EWR) in the Coastal Plain, and Mobile (Mob) and Dauphin Island-Bellingrath Gardens (DI) on the Gulf Coast.
