History

A FIFTY YEAR HISTORY OF THE ALABAMA ORNITHOLOGICAL SOCIETY

REMEMBRANCES AND RECOLLECTIONS
This is the history of the first fifty years of the Alabama Ornithological Society (AOS), covering the period from 1952 to 2002. This monumental project was led by Dan Holliman, as Chair of the AOS History Committee, whose members included  Julian Dusi, Sharon Hudgins, Bill Summerour, Bob Reid, Jim Keeler, Dwight Cooley, and Helen Kittinger.  The History includes articles by Bob and Martha Sargent, Bob and Lucy Duncan, John Porter, Alice Christenson, and Greg Jackson, as well as many other distinguished AOS members, and is illustrated with watercolors by Bill Summerour. The History includes recollections of some AOS ‘Legends’, including Tom Imhof, Walter Coxe, Blanche Dean, and John Findlay, written by AOS members who are themselves now legends.
